I’m just not a night-owl, so it’s hard for me to get motivated to stay up late enough for night photos. But it’s getting dark earlier now, and the camping trip planned for last weekend just happened to be during a period of moonless nights. So here’s a peek into the plane of our galaxy . . . first, from Trumbull Lake in Mono County, California.

I love the pictures! Thanks for taking the time to post them. Because I live in a town full of lights, often the closest I get to enjoying the night sky is by seeing beautiful photographs. These photos spark awe and wonder.
Such beauty! For me, particularly the second photo because it looks a little more like what I imagine I could see, if only I were in a dark place. It allows me to lose myself, which I think its the great gift of nature, and is easily done when looking at the night sky. Beautiful work!
