The Tent at Topaz

Topaz is one of California’s smaller towns. It’s on Highway 395 in Antelope Valley, just south of Topaz Lake and the junction with Highway 89. The last 2 or 3 summers there’s been a lonely yellow and white tent pitched near the highway, just north of town. It looks used, but it’s always empty when I drive by. Last weekend I finally stopped to photograph it.

I posted this image on Instagram today and a few minutes later, F-Stop Magazine reposted it on their feed. Cool!

Made with iPhone 5 + Hipstamatic, then a bit of Lightroom/Photoshop/Color Efex Pro.

It’s a great image. You don’t know what it is/was used for?
