Out of Context #5

South Fork Tuolumne River

Actually, I will provide a bit of context for this one. We’re looking into the South Fork Tuolumne River just upstream of Evergreen Road, near the Yosemite National Park Boundary, about half a mile beyond the edge of the Rim Fire, as of August 29. It’s along the trail to Carlon Falls, a popular day hike for campers at Berkeley Tuolumne Camp. Hoping this place doesn’t burn.

Update, 8-31-2013: From today’s map of the fire, it looks like the forest around this pool, all the way to Carlon Falls and beyond did burn today or yesterday, mostly on the north side of the river. This may have been part of “burnout” operations being conducted to reduce fuel in advance of the fire.
