I’m planning a short trip to some of my favorite places in eastern California later this week. In addition to the wonderful landscape there, I hope to see some interesting clouds (rare objects here in the Sacramento Valley during summer), maybe even the dramatic lenticular clouds sometimes produced by the “Sierra Wave.” All too often, however, the really nice clouds are sliced, skewered, and threaded together by the contrails of airplanes carrying other people going other places.
