Sacramento Memorial Autidorium

Recently I joined a few photo-friends for a rare opportunity to photograph inside the historic Sacramento Memorial Auditorium. Built in 1926, this building has served for more than 80 years as a venue for concerts, graduations, sporting events, and even Governor Schwarzenegger’s inauguration.

The light in the building was challenging—often a combination of incandescent bulbs and bright overcast sunlight from outside. Many areas were very dim. The range of brightness in most areas was extreme, so most of these images are a blending of several bracketed exposures. The blending was accomplished using Photomatix Pro from HDRsoft, currently the tool I favor for HDR processing with a fairly natural look.
