Benton Hot Springs

Benton Hot Springs lies in a valley east of the Benton Range, near the east end of Highway 120 in Mono County.  It’s a quiet place, home to an inn with hot tubs, a few old miner’s shacks, and the Utu Utu Gwaitu Paiute Tribe. The Bodie & Benton Railroad was supposed to have come through here in the 1880s on its way to meet the Carson & Colorado Railroad at Benton Station a few miles farther east. But the Bodie & Benton never came to Benton — never connected to any other railroad. It stopped at Mono Mills, about 30 miles northwest of here.
