Sonora Pass has always been one of my favorite ways across the Sierra Nevada: wonderful terrain, spectacular flowers, trails to great lakes and peaks, and a steep-narrow-twisty road that lets you feel close to the place, even from the car. Half-way down the east side of the pass is a short road to an overlook with wonderful views of Leavitt Meadows and Leavitt Falls.

Leavitt Meadows and the West Walker River.
Leavitt Falls on Leavitt Creek was very full with snow melt
after a winter with heavy and late snow.
