A few minutes before 1:00 a.m. (the time we were supposed to leave Bodie), I was walking up Green Street and noticed this scene. The old house with simple lines, the white curtains in the windows, the single light source shining across the street from another window around the corner…. I felt I had stepped into one of Edward Hopper’s paintings. All that’s missing, perhaps, is a woman gazing out one of the windows. If Hopper had come to Bodie, I think he might have painted a scene like this.
D. V. Cain House, Bodie.
