Night Sky at Fort Churchill

A few nights ago I camped at Fort Churchill State Historic Park in western Nevada.  The night was cool and breezy, with clouds drifting east toward a rising full moon. The campground is among tall trees — mostly cottonwoods — beside the Carson River.  My campsite, though, was on the dryer edge of the campground, surrounded by Russian-olives.  It was a good night for capturing some motion in the trees and clouds.

Some technical details: Nikon D700, ISO 200 (to minimize noise), white balance Tungsten (to enhance the blues), exposures about 2 to 4 minutes, f/6.3; processed in Lightroom and Photoshop.
