Valley Oaks

The Cosumnes River Preserve is one of the best places to see what forests of Valley oak (Quercus lobata) once looked like along all the major rivers of California’s Great Valley.  These stately trees along a quiet stretch of the river are among the oldest in the area.  It’s a great place for a walk.  But this time of the year, watch out for the mosquitoes!
